Dad and Christian Visit

Some pics from when Dad and Christian cam out to visit in Sept '07. One of the advantages of having my 4x4 is I get to go to Fraser Island and various other areas only accessible by 4x4. This was taken on Freswater Creek track near Rainbow Beach
Christian driving on the beaches of Fraser Island.
All of us at the Maheno wreck on Fraser
A couple of cheeky beers with a meal at a bar/restaurant in Brisbane

Whale watching at Hervey Bay was fantastic and the came out to play, which was a bonus. Some of our fellow passengers weren't looking a particularly nice colour though as it was a little rough!!!

Splendour in the Grass

What a weekend!!! We went down to Byron bay for a two day music festival known as Splendour in the Grass and an excellent time was had by all. The bands were really good and the most friendly crowd made for a fantastic atmosphere. Would do it again tomorrow if I had the chance!!! Some pic's, top, Me Bourkey and Kempy; middle, Ryan, Kempy, Bourkey, Connor, Snake and Blake; Bottom one of the bands, Editors I think.

New Toy

My new wheels. After nearly 2 years without a car, the time came for me to get one. Got this little beauty and looking forward to testing it out in some of the rough tracks.

Esk Races '07

Another trip to the country races at Esk following a "sucessful" visit last year. This time round we upped the ante and dressed up in some of the finest charity shop gear I've seen for a long time. Top Pic, Robbo and I checking out the form guide. Top middle pic, Nerida, Klarchen and me. Bottom middle pic, Mal, Me and Blake. Bottom pic, Nerida, Kempy, Mal and Lani.

A fun time was had by all and some really good photo's flying around. Not much profit gained from the nags.

Mum and Simon visit Oz (and me)

Mum and Simon came out to Brisbane in April and a great time was had by all. Went to the Great Barrier Reef and mum introduced herself to a local snake. Simon and I may (or may not) have had a couple of beer and thought it quite funny. Anyway, some pics from my place, at North Stradbroke Island and at Australia Zoo.

New Zealand Trip

Here are some pics from my trip to New Zealand with my friend Steph. Had a great time with her and her local knowledge was very handy. Photo's are of, from top to bottom; Steph and I looking towards Auckland CBD, White Island from a helicopter ride, the West Coast of the South Island at Punakaiki Rocks and the last one is of us at Miflord Sound.
Was a really great trip and did a skydive, rafting and some good hikes including the Franz Joseph Glacier.

Adelaide for New Years Eve

Unfortunately forgot my camera so will hope to blag some pics from some of the other members of the squad. Was probably the most tired I've ever been for a NYE celebration, but think the driving and some beer consumption over the course of the trip may have taken it's toll. Good time was had by all and went to see a 20-20 cricket game at Adelaide Oval on New Years Day. Only got the WACA in Perth to see, then that will be the mainland test grounds in Australia ticked off.

Night in Jail

We hadn't booked any accommodation along our trip and had to revert to some odd suggestions by the Tourist Information. One of which was the Old Jail in Mt Gambier, South Australia. Very strange experience, and probably not something I'll be rushing back to do!!!

Mount Gambier is sited on an old Volcano and the crater now contains a lake that is as Blue as you can get. Originally some bright spark named it "Blue Lake" - wonder how many meetings it took them to come up with that????

Twelve Apostles

The Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road are near the small town of Port Campbell. We managed to get to see them at dusk and also again the following morning. There's only 7 or 8 left due to erosion by the waves, but was a stunning place to visit.

Great Ocean Road

Took a trip from Melbourne to Adelaide between Xmas and New Year to see the sights. Weather was again iffy for the first day or so, but soon cleared up. The road is half way up the cliff at this location.

Boxing Day Test

Hyped up to be one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar out here, was aslo rain effected and cold to say the least. Nerida, Adam, James and Smithy all donning their fetching poncho's. Managed to see Warnie take his 700th test wicket, which was pretty special, but no rallying performance from the England Boys. If you look closely enough at the screen it shows Shane Warne 700 test wickets. The Barmy Army were fantastic and gave some good entertainment.
Smithy, Brendan, myself, James and Mike on the third and final day of the Boxing Day test '07.

Xmas in Melbourne

"You're spending Xmas in Melbourne are you? Best take a hat and sun screen" were the pre-trip comments. How wrong they were! It was bloody chilly and hailed for about 30 mins. There was snow putting out bush fires in land, so the weather was freakish to say the least. Had Chinese for Xmas lunch then watched James Bond. Had to get something traditional in there, although we had to go to the cinema for our helping of bond and not ITV. Smithy, Me and James about to head out for some lunch on Xmas day.
